Level 2 Commis Chef Apprentice

A fantastic opportunity to receive full training and guidance in all aspects of preparing and cooking the freshest ingredients to the highest standards. You will be given the chance to develop whilst working in some of the best and most established Fuller's Kitchens across the South of England.

Fullers are offering a fantastic opportunity for those that want to learn whilst earning and develop their culinary skills to the highest standard. In partnership with Bath College, we will provide full training in all aspects of food preparation and cooking whilst giving you an insight into some of the liveliest kitchens across the South of England.

Working in a Fullers Kitchen is exciting and challenging but with a full team to support and mentor you, you will develop a rich understanding of all dishes, as well as, a passion for the fresh and delicious produce that we use.

Alongside an in-depth understanding of the practical cooking skills, 1 day a week will be spent at Bath College which will help further your theoretical knowledge. This will leave you fully prepared to tackle your assignments required to complete the course.

Duties to include:

  • Food Preparation: Supporting the running of a section preparation of meat, fish, poultry, vegetables and sauces as part of the kitchen brigade.
  • Preparing fresh ingredients ready for service to Fuller's Chef Guild Standards.

Training to be provided

This programme includes one day a week at Bath College where you will be timetabled for practical classes, theory classes and, if required, Maths and English lessons in order to achieve the Level 2 Commis Chef Standard.

You will receive training in classical technique with a qualified chef lecturer and there will be expert-led masterclasses throughout the year - past masterclasses have included butchery, fish and pasta.

Age 16 - 20: £246

Age 21 - 24: £308

Age 25+: £328

A good secondary education.

Personal Qualities:

You will be happy working to the direction of the Head Chef / Sous chef and be able to follow instructions.

You'll have good communication skills.

You’ll be focused for detail, be passionate about cooking, and be obsessed with quality.

You’ll be reliable and trustworthy – always turning up for shifts, and your training sessions.

Future Prospects:

Further development through our Fuller’s Chefs’ Guild, progressing onto year 2 of the programme and an opportunity for long-term career progression and competitive salaries.

All academics must be completed.

You will be required to attend an initial assessment session and interview at Bath College's Somer Valley Campus in Radstock, before being considered by an employer.
