Flexi (Casual) Support Worker

Are you an enthusiastic, motivated, considerate and patient Support Worker? Do you want to make a difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities? Are you looking for a flexible working pattern? Then join our Residential Services team working across Aldington, Ashford, New Romney, Rye, and Woodchurch as a Flexi (Casual) Support Worker. Experience preferred but NOT essential as full training provided.

Canterbury Oast Trust takes pride in providing first-class care and support for adults with learning disabilities across Kent & East Sussex. We provide long-term accommodation and care for 93 residents and tenants across nine residential and seven independent living settings, in unique family style homes. The ethos of all our homes is to support independence, dignity, choice and achievement by helping people to live the lives they choose.

As a Flexi (Casual) Support Worker you will:

  • Be offered 'ad hoc' hours to meet the needs of our Service Users
  • Provide good quality care and support to adults based on their needs through a person centred approach.
  • Accompany the adults to their life-skills sessions such as music, art and sensory sessions.
  • Assist them in every aspect of their daily lives, including personal care.
  • Provide a safe and supportive environment that enables individuals to feel valued, reach their potential and nurture their aspirations.
  • Maintain appropriate records and written reports.
  • Plan trips and activities.

To be a successful Flexi (Casual) Support Worker you will:

  • Have an appreciation of the needs of people with learning disabilities.
  • Be considerate, calm, patient, self-motivated, enthusiastic, respectful, non-judgmental and professional.
  • Be flexible, as variable shifts include long days, weekends, sleep-ins and awake nights as allocated on an ad-hoc basis.
  • Have an understanding or experience of autism, dementia and epilepsy, although not essential as training will be given.
  • Have knowledge of specialist equipment although not essential as training will be provided.
  • Have sound interpersonal skills.
  • Possess good verbal and written communication skills plus basic IT and report writing skills.
  • Hold a Health & Social Care NVQ2 or Level 2 Diploma Qualification or be willing to undertake the Care Certificate.
  • Hold a driving licence in order to drive Service Users to appointments/activities using a manual pool car
  • 21 or over and held a full licence for a minimum of 1 year (Insurance requirement)
