Clinical Pharmacist

Clinical Pharmacist; fixed term post 1 year


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Clinical Pharmacist to join our Pharmacy team at One Ashford Hospital. The successful applicant will provide a clinical pharmacy service to the hospital as well as manage day to day activities in the dispensary.


  • 37.5 hours per week Monday to Friday

Reporting to the Chief Pharmacist, the successful Clinical Pharmacist will work as part of a dynamic and busy team to ensure a high standard of service is provided.

This is a fixed term post for 1 year to cover maternity leave.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Degree in Pharmacy
  • Registration as a Clinical Pharmacist with the General Pharmaceutical Council (any existing or pending Fitness to Practice issues must be declared on application)
  • Post registration experience of 2-3 years
  • Clinical pharmacy experience in a secondary acute setting, or proven ability to transfer clinical skills into an acute setting.
  • Previous experience in developing and implementing policies.


  • Postgraduate Diploma relevant to hospital pharmacy practice
  • Membership with the Royal Pharmaceutical Society
  • Private Hospital experience

Duties and Responsibilities include

  • To provide pharmaceutical expertise and input to the care of the patients within One Ashford Hospital.
  • To support the pharmacy department to delivery an excellent medicine management service to all customers.
  • Attendance on daily multidisciplinary ward round.
  • To supervise the procurement, preparation, dispensing and distribution of medicines.
  • To facilitate the daily running of the Pharmacy Department, providing a safe and effective medicines management service to all patients, staff, consultants and customers.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charging of drugs.
  • Ensure compliance with all appropriate regulatory, professional and best practice frameworks
  • To participate in audit activities, which will improve the quality of the services, provided by the department including medication incident reporting
  • Be a proactive member of the Hospital's pharmacy team.
  • Deputise for the Chief Pharmacist when required

Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 dependent on experience. Salary is negotiable.
