One Hatfield Hospital, Hertfordshire has a vacancy for a Security Guard to join the team.

Security Guard


  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent
  • SIA licence holder


  • Previous experience of working in security
  • Experience of working in line with policies and procedures


  • Highly organised with excellent time management skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently
  • Strong communication skills, including written and verbal
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Sound computer skills


  • Previous experience of security in a hospital setting

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide a feeling of safety for staff, patients and visitors by maintaining an effective security presence
  • Carry out regular patrols of the premises to ensure security against damage, either by fire, water, theft, or vandalism
  • Protect the premises from possible unauthorised entry, by use of force or illegal instruments, whereby loss of goods, danger to staff, patients, or visitors, or damage may result
  • Detect, where possible, those responsible for loss or malicious damage to Company property
  • Respond to emergencies in a timely manner, engaging the police or emergency services if required
  • Resolve any issues in a professional manner and in line with all policies and procedures
  • Work with the maintenance team to ensure any physical breaches of security are avoided and, where necessary, rectified
  • Record any incidents, raising reports, and carrying out enquiries where necessary
  • Ensure security arrangements in the hospital are functioning properly, e.g. computer systems
  • Responsible for access control to the hospital, ensuring all visitors sign in and out accordingly
  • Greet visitors in a friendly and courteous manner and receive deliveries, following process
  • Maintain a clean and tidy Reception area
  • Provide a comprehensive handover at change of shift to colleagues
  • You may be asked to carry out other duties as reasonably requested
