One Ashford Hospital, Kent has a vacancy for a Lead Paediatric Nurse to join the team.

We are currently looking for an experienced, enthusiastic Paediatric Nurse to lead on the future development and ongoing Paediatric Service at One Ashford Hospital. This is a pivotal role in enhancing the service we currently provide in addition to help develop an outstanding service, for both outpatients and day surgery.

This role requires an individual who is highly motivated and passionate about paediatric services and has the ability to lead a team and ensure our compliance with national guidelines and CQC requirements.

Lead Paediatric Nurse

Reporting to the Director of Clinical Services, as our Lead Paediatric Nurse, you will provide, manage and develop Paediatric nursing and related services for patients and their families. We will want you to deliver and maintain high standards of nursing care within the ward area; and to act as a specialist resource imparting knowledge and expertise to managers and staff.

Qualifications

  • Registered Nurse (RGN) with NMC
  • RNC
  • EPALS

Experience

  • Proven ability to lead and motivate a paediatric team, providing strong strategic direction and positive leadership
  • Proven experience working at Lead Nurse level within the health care industry
  • Proven strategic planning, workforce analysis and policy development skills
  • Ability to lead continuous improvement cycles within a health care setting and achieve sound outcomes

Skills

  • Understanding of NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  • Knowledge of child development and government standards for the care of children in hospital including Child Protection Guidelines. Including RCN and CQC requirements
  • Sound computer skills using MS Office Suite and web based reporting systems

Desirables

  • Experience in the private sector

Main responsibilities & duties of the role

  • Develop the Paediatric services to provide patients and their families with advice, support and information.
  • Co-ordinate the organisation of the service by liaising with patients, other members of the multi-disciplinary team and outside agencies in order to maintain high professional and clinical standards.
  • Manage and undertake any administration required for the efficiency of the service.
  • To act at all times in accordance with the NMC Code of Professional Conduct
  • Maintain accurate up to date policies through regular audit, review and abreast of local and national guidelines
  • To assist in development and maintenance of clinical standards and participate in clinical audits.
  • To maintain professional credibility and attend relevant courses to assist in enabling research based practice.
  • Ensure accurate records of patients care and progress maintained.
  • To ensure compliance of all local and corporate policies and procedures.
  • To develop and promote sound communication and excellent working relationships within the department, hospital and outside agencies.
  • To work effectively with the medical staff.
  • To be the designated named professional for Safeguarding Children and Young People. As well as support the hospital in complying with the national requirements.
  • Develop and deliver training and educational sessions and material for all staff across the organisation in relation to paediatrics.
  • Be a central resource of support and information on paediatrics.
  • Deliver a high standard of individualised patient care, being sensitive to patients needs for dignity and privacy
  • Ensure that the agreed standards of patient care and confidentiality are maintained in accordance with company policies
  • Promote clinical excellence at all times.
