One Ashford Hospital, Kent has a vacancy for a Ward Manager to lead our Inpatient team.

As a qualified Registered Nurse, you will relish this new challenge in an enviable working environment. As our Ward Manager you will:

  • Manage the day to day running of our Ward department.
  • Provide excellent patient care.
  • Use your existing knowledge to make a valuable contribution to the patients experience.
  • Provide guidance, support and coaching to the Ward Sisters to promote and enable effective change management and strengthen leadership skills
  • Act as a role model for nurses in the designated clinical area, promoting and demonstrating the standards of care and behaviour expected at all times, exhibiting high standards of professional behaviour and promoting and maintaining an evidence based practice culture for nursing staff including wide dissemination of evidence
  • Provide effective nursing and managerial input into operational and strategic issues including the development and implementation of strategy and policy, which ensures that objectives are achieved within agreed timetables.
  • Deputise for the Director of Clinical Services when required.
  • Maintain strong working relationships with theatre and other hospital departments.

We are looking for a clinically credible, pro-active, team focused nursing leader with full NMC registration. The successful candidate will ideally already have Ward Manager experience or experience at a senior nurse level particularly in acute surgical post-operative care. An advantage would be having experience in an enhanced care environment.

This role would be ideal for someone who is looking to take the next step and expand their current skills in this environment.

In addition, they will have a proven track record of leading nurses through periods of change, providing clinical & professional supervision, and ensuring quality and safety are maintained to the highest standards.

The candidate we are looking for will be creative and innovative in their approach to delivering excellent care in line with budgetary expectations, strategic direction, and local & national best practice guidelines.

The post holder will provide clinical leadership which inspires, motivates and empowers nurses within the service and is responsible for effectively managing the financial resources, ensuring the optimal deployment of the nursing workforce to ensure high-quality patient care is delivered and monitored. This will require the post holder to contribute to corporate initiatives and plans, particularly in respect of changes in patient care, delivery and quality

In collaboration with the Director of Clinical Services and Theatre Manager, the post holder will be involved in the planning and implementation of developments relating to nursing throughout the hospital. This will require the post holder to promote professionalism among nurses and play a full role, participating in, and in some cases leading, nursing initiatives requested by or on behalf of the Director of Clinical Services.
