Nestled in a peaceful residential suburb of Gillingham, Rogers House offers person centred residential care on a respite or permanent basis to over 65's with a variety of care and support needs.

Spread over three floors, the care home can provide care for up to 41 older people within a homely and welcoming pet friendly environment. Rogers House is also home to Rusty the cat, who provides great companionship for the residents of the home.

Rogers House can also provide short term care. They aim to provide a home from home, giving both the residents and their carer a chance to relax and recharge their batteries. When residents come and stay with us their carers can relax, they have peace of mind knowing that their loved one is safe and being cared for in a homely environment.

Residents benefit from excellent facilities including multiple seating areas, a large homely dining room, activity room, kitchenette and landscaped spacious gardens.

Roger's House highly trained staff are committed to caring for the residents as though they are an extended family member, getting to know them and supporting them to live life to the fullest.

The Home has vacancies for Domestics, who's main duties and responsibilities will include maintaining all areas of the home, except the kitchen and laundry, in a clean, tidy and presentable condition, at all times, and working within a team that promotes the wellbeing and respects the dignity of individual residents.

Pay: £7.83 per hour

The ideal Domestic will demonstrate

  • A caring and compassionate approach
  • Patience and understanding of older people
  • Knowledge of or a willingness to be trained in the correct procedures for carrying out all of their duties including use of equipment
  • Awareness of cultural needs of individuals
  • Current knowledge of H&S legislation and application of H&S practices with particular regard to cleaning equipment
  • Knowledge and understanding of COSHH regulations
  • Good communication skills with different groups, e.g. staff, residents, local community
  • Understanding of different values / cultures of residents and staff
  • Team working skills
  • Good timekeeping skills
  • Professionalism

The ideal Domestic will have the ability to:

  • Play an active role in creating a good environment
  • Prioritise their work
  • Be aware of the support needed by others, consider how they can support them and encourage and support them
  • Train for and take on additional responsibilities
  • Listen carefully and attentively
  • Respect the dignity and privacy of all those they come into contact with
  • Apply their knowledge and training in the workplace
  • Report any significant findings or exceptions to their line manager
  • Uphold the policies and procedures of The Organisation
