Canterbury Cathedral is the Mother Church of the worldwide Anglican Communion and seat of the Archbishop of Canterbury. The Cathedral is both a holy place and part of a World Heritage Site. Music is an integral part of our worship and the Cathedral takes great pride in the music performed at its services.

Applications are invited for a BASS LAY CLERK - with a significant low register

Lay Clerks are required to sing at services, which include: Sunday Eucharist and Sunday Evensong, Evensong on each weekday except Thursday, three services on Christmas Day, Easter Day and Pentecost and two Services on Good Friday. There will also be extra services and rehearsals to attend and, on occasion additional broadcasts, recordings and some travel.

The Canterbury Cathedral Choir comes under the direction of Dr David Flood - Master of the Choristers and the Cathedral Organist, and is made up of 12 lay clerks, 25 boy choristers, and a Girls Choir, formed in 2014, consisting of 24 members.

Auditions are expected to take place October / November 2019

The appointment will commence January 2020, or earlier by arrangement.
