Canterbury Cathedral has a tradition of visitor welcome that dates back to the days of medieval pilgrimage. The Benedictine tradition of welcome continues today, warmly inviting pilgrims to share in the beauty of one of the great holy places of Christendom.

The Cathedral remains one of the most visited places in the country. It is a working, living church and community and welcomes groups from all over the world. It offers a wide range of facilities, from guided tours to behind the scenes visits to the Stained Glass Studio, Stone Conservation Workshop and Archives & Library.

The opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Visits Administrator who will help to coordinate the work of a large team of volunteers ensuring high standards are consistently maintained by:

- Assisting with their recruitment, training & development;

- Keeping the volunteer database up to date;

- Administering and distributing rotas to ensure the needs of the visitor and Cathedral are met;

- The management and tracking of volunteers training and development, absences and travel.

The Visits Administrator will also provide excellent customer service by:

- Dealing efficiently with queries and processing group bookings ;

- Being responsible for the administration of complex visits to satisfactory conclusion by liaising with key departments and personnel;

- Ensuring equipment and documentation used by the department is updated and maintained;

- Supporting a variety of initiatives led by the Head of Visitor Engagement;

- Being responsible for the publication of the volunteers internal newsletter.

Candidates must be confident, have a strong administrative background, hold excellent communication, interpersonal and IT skills and a flexible approach to work. Knowledge and experience in the use of membership databases and of working with volunteers would also be an advantage.
