Canterbury Cathedral is one of the nations greatest heritage buildings and well-known all over the world. The Cathedral community welcomes more than 1 million visitors and delivers over 2,000 events and services each year, as well as employing nearly 1,000 staff and volunteers.

Canterbury Cathedral's Virgers play an important part in ensuring the buildings security, the proper functioning of the Cathedral as a place of worship and for the many other roles and activities which it serves. They assist with the internal management and running of the Cathedral, uphold the dignity of worship, care for the Cathedrals security and at all times maintain a ministry of welcome to all who enter.

To become a member of Canterbury Cathedral's team of Virgers previous experience would be an advantage, but is not essential as training will be given. The successful candidate must be fully flexible in relation to the days and hours worked, evenings and weekends will be involved, and as you would expect there is a need to work all principal feasts and public holidays.
