Reporting directly to the Senior Facilitator, you will deliver unparalleled levels of service to clients ranging from 18 years old to middle age. Each of our clients has challenging needs and helping them is one of the most rewarding career choices one can make.

Abilities Development Ltd is a private organisation founded in 2011 by a former qualified special needs teacher. The company has grown from strength to strength and offers specialised services to individuals with learning disabilities. One of objectives is to provide solutions to young people with disabilities so that they can access opportunities and enhance their lifestyle within the home, during school and beyond school.

We are currently recruiting FACILITATORS for our learning and outreach service, respite and supported living services to provide a high standard of individualised and specialised care to young adults with learning disabilities whilst recognising and acknowledging their varying needs to help them live a full life

Requirements

What our Facilitator will be doing for our Clients:

  • Engaging clients within the community and maximising opportunities for activity, education and employment; facilitating and promoting client involvement across the services and the organisation.
  • Implement and deliver agreed individual activities/social engagement and accompany clients on external activities (including weekends and evenings).
  • Encourage independence and choice in a person centred way in line with agreed care needs according to the care plan.
  • Cater for specific additional needs of the clients, including assisting with personal hygiene tasks, hoisting and positioning, PEG feeding, eating and drinking, administering medication and monitoring general well-being amongst other tasks.
  • Update and review clients individual care plans, risk assessments, progress /monitoring and any other relevant assessments on an ongoing basis, ensuring the records are accurate.
  • Work without direct supervision including lone working as directed by the Manager or delegated Senior staff; managing own time effectively ensuring the clients needs are met, providing the highest level of personal care and attention to clients and following health care procedures (e.g. administering prescribed medication as identified within the support plan).
  • Manage challenging behaviour, dealing promptly with conflicts and incidents using appropriate strategies to prevent and manage the challenging behaviour.
  • Recognising and responding to clients who have communication barriers and understanding how clients communicate and responding accordingly. Promote the use of Makaton and other alternative communication with our client group.
  • Support clients to develop their independence

Skills and Qualifications

To succeed in the role of Facilitator you will require:

  • Knowledge or previous experience working in a healthcare environment
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written)
  • Flexible and pro-active approach to work
  • NVQ level 2 in Health & Social Care
  • Willingness to learn
  • Positive attitude
